Landlord Avoids Raising Tenant’s Rent By Simply Making Coffee At Home

Scarborough - A Toronto-based property owner says that, despite rising property taxes, he was able to avoid offsetting the cost of his own financial investment onto his tenants just by brewing his own coffee at home.

“With the latest City of Toronto property tax increase, I’ll be seeing a significant increase in my monthly expenses and that’s really going to cut into the profits of my multiple investment properties,” Stephen Rossi tells us, “Luckily, by cutting out my daily coffee runs, I’m barely noticing that $13 monthly increase!”

Other landlords in the city say they are concerned that Stephen’s decision to take responsibility for his own financial decisions may force them to also do the same.
