Toronto Will Be Ripping Up Every Street South Of Bloor Starting This Friday

Toronto - If you’re driving downtown this weekend be sure to give yourself a few extra minutes, as the city announced their plans to do construction on every single road in the downtown core.

The construction is part of the cities plan to add wifi onto TTC buses, which will require boosters to be installed directly into the street every 50 metres.

“We thought, sure we could just install these one road at a time, but why not be as efficient as possible and get it all done in one go,” a TTC rep said, “It’ll save a lot of time and be more convenient for everyone in the long run.”

The construction is expected to take at least 3 years.

Residents living downtown say the construction is slightly inconvenient but much needed.

“Are you fucking kidding me? The street outside my condo has been under construction since I moved in five years ago! Now your telling me I can’t even use my car to escape this hellhole? I’m done, I am absolutely done,” said one understanding resident.

If you are planning to travel downtown this weekend, keep in mind that all subway lines will be closed for routine maintenance from 4:45PM on Friday until 9:05AM Monday morning.
